BWP Football Academy - U17s - 2008s continued their impressive run of form on Saturday, earning a hard-fought 4-0 victory on the road against Munay Munay to maintain their unbeaten record and stay atop the EDP North Atlantic League standings. BWP FA 17s came into halftime with a 1-0 lead, and jumped on the match in the early moments of the second half to go up 2-0. Munay Munay was able to attack the left side of the box and earn a penalty. BWP FA GK Sehaj Singh came up big as he saved the penalty to his right. “Coming down here, and having to play this side back-to-back weekends, we knew we needed a solid performance. Credit to the boys—they kept their shape, stayed focused, and delivered when it mattered most,” said Head Coach Steve Freeman. With this result, BWP FA U17s remain unbeaten through seven games and sit firmly at the top of the table, showing both attacking flair and defensive discipline throughout the campaign. As the BWP FA 17s move closer to winning the league, the BWP FA U15/16s slipped into 2nd place in the EDP North Atlantic League as they fell to NYE Alleycats 2-0. With a record of 5W 0D 2L and one more match to play on June 15th v Town of Poughkeepsie, the BWP FA U15/16s look to solidify second place. The BWP FA U13/14s played Yorktown SC on the road and jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a great moment against the ball when Patrick Hanchett stole the ball and played Kieran Connor beyond the backline. Connor slipped the ball across to the backside and Brendan Neely finished the ball to goal. The BWP FA U13/14s conceded the tying goal just before halftime as the opposition was able to intercept the ball off a build out sequence from the BWP FA U13/14s. Yorktown SC was able to push ahead on a penalty conceded in the second half, and close out the match 2-1. The bWP FA U13/14s has two more matches remaining in the regular season. The BWP FA U18/19s came back from down 3-1 to draw against first place contender White Plains Academy (WPA) 3-3 on the road, and give themselves one more match to jump WPA to take first place on the final weekend of the league.
