Albany, NY – BWP Football Academy played host to an exciting two-day stretch of ECNL Regional League competition this past weekend, as BWP Football Academy took the field against Westchester SC and Quickstrike FC at Christian Brothers Academy. With high stakes, strong opposition, and a great atmosphere, the matches showcased both the intensity and quality that define ECNL RL play.
Day One: BWP Football Academy vs. Westchester SC
Saturday’s matchup against Westchester SC set the tone for the weekend. From the opening whistle, both sides demonstrated
organized play and a willingness to compete in every phase of the game. BWP Football Academy demonstrated energy, pressing high and looking to counter on the turn over.
Westchester SC proved to be a disciplined opponent, moving the ball well and creating dangerous chances. However, BWP Football Academy’s defensive units held firm, limiting clear opportunities and showing composure under pressure.

BWP Football Academy captured four victories across the day of competition. It was the first overall winning day for the Club competing in the ECNL RL. “I am super happy for our groups, especially our youngest teams as they have battled through so much adversity this year,” stated Academy Director and Head Coach Steve Freeman. With a goal differential of +2 as a Club – 18 Goals For and 16 Goals Allowed, the Club had its first overall positive goal differential.
Day Two: BWP Football Academy vs. Quickstrike FC 
Sunday brought a new set of challenges, as BWP Football Academy faced Quickstrike FC squads known for its speed and attacking creativity. Quickstrike started fast, using quick transitions and wide play to stretch the field.

Sunday saw many ups and downs for the Club, as the Club’s youngest group, the BWP FA U12/13s had its most competitive outing of the season losing 3-1 with a 1-1 second half, and two other matches were lost by 1 goal. “One of the things I love most about coaching sport is seeing young people grow by earning the opponent’s respect and reinforcing their personal investment. The 2013/14s did just that missing players and made no excuses, just battled and played throughout the course of the weekend matches,” stated Freeman.

Across both days of competition, BWP Football Academy demonstrated key qualities that define successful ECNL RL teams: organization, adaptability, and determination. Competing against two strong clubs in Westchester SC and Quickstrike FC, the squads showed growth in both attacking and defensive consistency.
The weekend also highlighted the contributions coming from across the different age groups and players stepping up in crucial moments. Playing back-to-back high-level matches is never easy, but BWP Football Academy handled the challenge with professionalism and composure.
