Newport, South Wales – Both former professional players and current BWP Football Academy leaders, Freeman and Vaz Te, have
been accepted on the prestigious Football Association of Wales – UEFA A Coaching Course. The year-long course is framed within our ‘Welsh Way’ Principles of Play, additionally, fundamentally aim to create coaches who have the capacity to plan and design meaningful practice, adapt to the varied contexts and challenge their personal philosophy to develop the individuals’ and teams’ multi-disciplinary demands. Central to this is developing the coaches capacity to utilise and apply reflective practice techniques.

The UEFA A Coaching License is the highest certification prior to the UEFA Pro License. “I am super excited to continue my educational journey as a coach and director,” said BWP FA Academy Director & Head Coach Steve Freeman. “The FAW UEFA A Coaching Course has had many top coaching profiles globally in its history.”

Freeman and Vaz Te both completed their UEFA B in Duisburg, Germany in the summer of 2021. Freeman currently holds his USSF A National Coaching License, United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma, UEFA B – DFB, UEFA C – KNVB and has been on the national education staff for United Soccer Coaches for nearly 15 years. Vaz Te is currently an assistant coach with Alverca of Liga Portugal, the country’s top division of professional football.
