BWPFA U15s, U16s, U17s and U18/19s Study Match Film to Deepen Understanding of Modern Principles of Play

Albany, NY – BWP Football Academy’s U15, U16, U17, and U18/19 squads continued their commitment to long-term player development this week through structured film analysis sessions held at Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) in the school’s lecture hall. “One of the elements we try to add to our programming is film study. However, it is very challenging as we still need work on the training pitch,” stated Academy Director Steve Freeman. “Veo has been a great add to our programming since 2020, and we continue to try to find ways to support our players and their understanding of play.”

Players worked in small groups to review key moments from recent matches, collaborating to identify patterns, discuss decisions, and share insights aloud with their teammates. Coaches guided the process, emphasizing modern principles of play such as positional discipline, pressing and counter-pressing, breaking pressure, and creating numerical advantages in key areas of the field.

The session reinforced the Academy’s focus on developing smarter, more autonomous decision-makers—helping athletes understand game cues, translate analysis into action, and elevate their tactical awareness. This reflective learning environment remains a vital part of the Club’s player pathway, complementing both training and competition.
